Every year, millions of visitors and tourists come to Miami for a variety of reasons ranging from business to pleasure. Located in southeast Florida, the city is one of the most exciting places in the state. The great weather, beautiful resorts and ocean views are only a few aspects of what makes Miami the place to be.
Miami offers individuals a plethora of activities in and out of water. Some people enjoy fishing, swimming, and boating, while others may choose to travel in grand style onboard one of the many cruise lines that enter Port Miami. Whatever one’s pleasure, anyone in search of adventure and intrigue is sure to find it here.
A Popular Cruise Port
Miami is a popular port for many cruise ships. Over the years, families and individuals seeking affordable ways to vacation have chosen cruises. The industry is continuing to grow. In fact, the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) found that in 2012, more than 20 million people cruised and millions more are expected to do so in future years.
Given the high numbers of passengers and cruise ships that come to Miami on a routine basis, it should not be surprising that a large number of cruise-related cases are brought every year. Regardless of whether you were a passenger or crewmember onboard a ship, if you were hurt, you are strongly encouraged to seek legal counsel from an experienced attorney who can advise you of your rights under maritime law.
Why Hire Us?
Choosing the right maritime lawyers to handle your case can be a tough choice. That is why it is important do your own research and ask questions prior to making a final decision. Many attorneys and law firms advertise and have websites. However, when dealing with maritime-related issues, you need lawyers with skill and experience. We actually have tried many cases in the past and have many more scheduled in the future. Many attorneys advertise as though they are experts in the maritime area but have little or no trial experience. Anyone can have a slick website but what they have actually done in the legal arena is the key. Do your homework and check which firms have actually tried cases to conclusion, on how many occasions and how were the results. Do your homework.
The attorneys at Lipcon, Margulies, Alsina & Winkleman, P.A. have handled in excess of 3,000 cases on behalf of injured seamen and on behalf of injured passengers. We have tried many cases to a verdict and have many appeals under our belt. Our combined experience in maritime and admiralty law is more than 100 years.
Members of the firm have also successfully presented and argued many landmark cases in which new precedents were established, new (or significantly new) legal principles were introduced or the laws were substantively changed. Such cases can have a significant impact on those we help in future cases. Please take a look at the numerous landmark cases we have handled.
