Ivan Izquierdo is an active trial attorney and maritime lawyer, handling passengers’ personal injury claims, crewmember claims, wrongful death claims, as well as non-maritime personal injury claims.
Mr. Izquierdo attended St. Thomas University where he successfully attained an under-graduate degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology, post-graduation Mr. Izquierdo began his career as a professional athlete for a Major League Baseball team. Mr. Izquierdo has worked for the Department of Homeland Security as a Federal Agent previous to attending law school. During his time as an agent he acquired the certification of United States Coast Guard Captain of Uninspected Vessels (OUPV), enriching his knowledge of maritime safety and regulations.
At St. Thomas University School of Law Mr. Izquierdo excelled by appearing on the Dean’s List throughout his legal education while as well receiving book awards in the fields of Admiralty/Maritime law and Marine Insurance. During his time there, he received the Public Service Award for amassing over 240 hour of Pro-bono work. Additionally, Mr. Izquierdo was a research assistant for the maritime program at St Thomas University School of Law, ultimately graduating with honors (Cum Laude).
Mr. Izquierdo began working with Lipcon, Margulies, Alsina & Winkleman, P.A., as a clerk before joining as a maritime lawyer. He has been involved in several trials on behalf of individuals and families who suffered serious injuries and/or the loss of a loved one.
Mr. Izquierdo is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida. He is also a member of the Florida Bar, the Cuban American Bar Association, and the Federal Bar Association, and the Maritime Law Association. Mr. Izquierdo is fluent in Spanish.
