Recently, a Thriller boat crash has rocked the lives of multiple families enjoying a tour in the PortMiami area. While 13 people were injured, others were treated on the scene for less severe injuries, needing only minor treatment. However, these injuries and this trauma may haunt these families for years to come.  We have successfully sued Thriller powerboats in the past related to injuries arising out of these tours.

Those injured in the PortMiami area because of the negligence of another party likely have grounds to take legal action. If you have been injured in this accident or others, do not hesitate to consider your options for legal support. Our tour boat accident law firm can provide the representation you need to get compensated following a crash.

What You Need to Know About the Crash

On February 11, two tour boats, a Thriller 06 and Obelix, collided with one another in the PortMiami area. While several people were treated at the scene, at least 13 people were sent to the hospital for further treatment. Authorities arrived at the scene around 3:00 in the afternoon near Fisherman’s Channel.

In the wake of this crash between two charter boats on a Sunday afternoon, more than 30 units were deployed to help the injured. That includes Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, the Coast Guard, the Miami Fire Rescue, and Florida Fish and Wildlife police. Currently, we are unsure how many people were treated at the site for more minor injuries.

About the Thriller Boat

One of the boats involved was the Thriller 06, a boat familiar to our team. This is a 55-ft speed boat with a passenger capacity of 36 according to the Thriller Miami Speed Boat Tours website. This boat operates out of Bayside Marketplace.

As a law firm, we are familiar with Thriller boats. Our team has handled previous cases involving this precise type of case, that means we are ready to take action and demand justice on your behalf when you are hurt.

About Obelix

The other charter tour boat involved was the Obelix. This boat is owned and operated by Midnight Sun Boat Charters, a company that began in 2014 in the US Virgin Islands, but has since expanded to Miami. This boat is 43 feet in length and is powered by 5 engines. This boat is also considered a luxury center console boat.

If you were a passenger on either vessel, and you were injured, you have grounds for compensation. Our team is here to help as this case progresses and as boat accident victims need further help.

Common Causes of Boating Accidents

Currently, the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and other authorities have not yet released the cause of the accident. Because of this, it is difficult to determine exactly who is at fault for this specific accident. However, specifics are vital for victims seeking compensation for their injuries, which can be caused by one or more of the following:

  • Slip-and-fall accidents
  • Overboard accidents
  • Gangway injuries
  • Electrocutions
  • Boat collisions
  • Collisions with objects in water

If you have suffered through any types of boating accidents, you may have grounds for compensation. Your maritime attorney can help you determine whether you have grounds for a lawsuit and who may be liable for your injuries. Talk to our team about your case and what you can do to take action.
