Going on a cruise can be one of the most exciting vacations. With so much to see, do, and explore, you’re likely to have a great time. However, before you can set foot aboard your cruise, you’ll have to make a choice regarding which company you’re going to support. The burden of choice is never one to complain about—after all, more choice means more competition and better service for customers.

However, realizing that you have a choice may lead you to wonder just how many cruise lines there are in the world. Since we tend to hear this question frequently, we wanted to address the answer here.

Currently, there are 51 ocean cruise lines and 27 river cruise lines. However, this number may fluctuate, depending on the source, as some cruise lines are owned by larger parent companies. For example, this is the case with Holland America Line, as they are owned by Carnival Corporation.

The Cruise Line International Association (CLIA) recognizes 62 members, which includes ocean, river and specialty cruise lines. These companies hail from a variety of major countries, allowing passengers to enjoy the beautiful natural landscape and local culture of practically every corner of the world.

This high number comes as no surprise, as CLIA reports that the demand for cruise vacations has increased 68% in the past decade.  That’s an incredible leap, and one that the cruise industry is, no doubt, looking to make the most of.

Increased Choice, Increased Injury

With an increase in cruise lines also comes a natural increase in potential cruise line accident and injuryOur team has experience with many major cruise lines, so that we can better serve you. In the past, we’ve handled cases against Carnival Cruise Lines, Celebrity Cruises, Costa Cruises, Disney Cruise Line, Holland America, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, and many more.

No matter which cruise line has caused you to suffer, you can rest assured that we are here for you and ready to help you get the results you deserve. These days, many cruise lines assume they can slip through the cracks. However, with cruises becoming ever more popular, it seems increasingly likely that regulations will become stricter over time.

All of this is good news for you. After all, not only will you have more choices, but hopefully you will also have better choices. So, regardless of the company or your destination, you can have a relaxing, stress-free vacation, anywhere in the world.

That said, nothing will ever completely remove the potential for serious incident and personal injury aboard a cruise line. Where there are people (and alcohol and a general lack of security . . . ), there is the possibility for someone to get hurt. That’s why we’re here, for when you need us most.

After working with clients from a variety of different cruise lines, one thing we hear from our clients is always the same: it’s never easy to deal with the legal ramifications of your injury on your own. We know just how overwhelming it can be to try and navigate your case. But, when you hire a maritime attorney, you don’t have to do it alone.
