Karen Grossman

Karen Grossman has over 35 years’ experience as a maritime attorney, and as a trial attorney handles cruise passengers’ and crewmembers’ personal injury claims, including shipboard medical malpractice, slip and falls, and serious injuries. She is particularly skilled at representing victims of sexual assault with sensitivity and discretion. Ms. Grossman worked for many years representing all major cruise lines and has a unique understanding of the challenges associated with living and vacationing on a cruise ship. She now focuses her career on representing persons injured on cruise ships and devotes her time to getting top results for passengers and crew against the cruise lines.

Karen obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Florida, where she was honored to be chosen as a Fellowship Instructor to teach law students legal research and writing. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Florida International University with High Honors, majoring in political science. Before law school, Karen worked for a marine surveyor, gaining invaluable knowledge of the technical side of boating. Karen grew up in Miami, spending her weekends fishing in Biscayne Bay or trolling offshore, and maintaining the family boat.

Karen has volunteered representing indigent clients at the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s office specializing in defending persons charged with felonies. She is also an advocate for Collegiate Recovery Programs, supporting college students living with addictions, and has drafted legislation to mandate Collegiate Recovery Programs in Florida’s public universities. Karen is also a supporter of The Melissa Institute, a group dedicated to preventing violence and promoting safe communities through education and application of research-based knowledge.

Karen enjoys spending time with her family, reading maritime literature, and appreciating tropical gardening. In her free time, she enjoys kayaking in the rivers and lakes of Montana.
